2017 Club Championships

Chatswood Tennis Club’s Annual Championships are being held Sunday 26th November and Sunday 3rd December.

Members please note that Sunday Social will not be held on Sunday 26th November due to the Championships.

Sunday 3rd December will be finals day as well as the Club’s Christmas Party! All members are encouraged to come along and enjoy the day!

Playing doubles is completely different than singles tennis, obviously technically the shots technique remain the same but the tactics and learning to play with a partner is totally different. For instance you might normally prefer to hit the “T” when serving in singles, but opt to serve out wide on doubles so the return will give an opportunity for your partner to poach.

Solving Your Doubles Problems

Playing doubles tennis is significantly different than singles tennis, not just having to consider a parter but there are a different set of skills you need to learn for doubles play.

Firstly a decision has to be made who takes the lead side of the court and who is more comfortable in returning the first serve. Perhaps a statistic that may help towards this decision is that at the social level of doubles play, the majority of serves are hit to the outside of the service boxes. This percentage changes quite dramatically at the top levels with the majority of serves being hit directly down the middle.
